The Chile and Zambia Women’s National Team International Friendly match which was scheduled for this evening has been canceled following four suspected Covid-19 positive cases in the Zambian team.

According to a statement monitored by the ZamFoot Crew from Santiago, ANFP Medical Commission General Coordinator César Kalazich said that as a result of the positive cases recorded the match cannot go ahead as per regulations in Chile concerning Covid-19 protocols due to the high risk it represents.

“As dictated by the sanitary protocols of the ANFP Medical Commission, we have carried out the test for COVID-19 for the Zambian women’s team. In antigen testing, a test validated by Chilean football, they have yielded four positive results. Therefore, and due to the high risk it represents for this match, we have decided to cancel it, “said César Kalazich, General Coordinator of the ANFP Medical Commission.

By the broadcast time, the second string of results was being awaited following another test conducted.

The Copper Queens who are coming from a hard-fought 2-1 victory on Saturday with goals courtesy of Captain Barbra Banda and Racheal Nachula were scheduled to take on La Roja Femenina at 23h30 Central African Time(CAT) in a second friendly series at National Stadium to wrap their South American Tour.

Zambia was using the friendly match as part of preparations for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics which will be held next year in Japan while Chile is preparing for a play-off tie against Cameroon to be played in February over a two-legged affair to determine who makes it to the Olympics.
