HH,ECL HOLD TALKS

President EDGAR LUNGU and President elect HAKAINDE HICHILEMA have held a meeting were several national issues have been discussed.

The meeting was attended by Former President of Tanzania JAKAYA KIKWETE, Former President RUPIAH BANDA and Former President of Sierra Leone ENERST BAI KOROMA.

The Meeting was held at Mr. BANDA’s residence in Lusaka.

Speaking after the meeting, Former President RUPIAH BANDA said he was humbled to have hosted the meeting.

He said the atmosphere of the meeting shows that there is Unity.

Mr. BANDA said he is happy that people outside the country are interested in the welfare of Zambians.

 


MEANWHILE, the Southern African Development Community – SADC- has congratulated President elect HAKAINDE HICHILEMA and the UPND for winning the August 12 General Election.

SADC Chairperson of the Organ on Politics, Defence and Security who is also President of Botswana, MOKGWEETSI ERIC MASISI says despite the COVID-19, the people of Zambia turned out in large numbers to vote

Dr. MASISI says it is the 7th time Zambia is successfully electing a President through competitive multiparty elections since the historic 1991 polls, providing vital lessons for the region and the African continent at large.

He says despite immense pressure from the highly competitive General Elections, political stakeholders were generally satisfied that the Electoral Commission of Zambia – ECZ was able to discharge its functions professionally.
