President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says NO one has the legal mandate to grant immunity from prosecution to former Konkola Copper Mines -KCM- liquidator MILINGO LUNGU.

President HICHILEMA has also distanced himself and State House officials from any involvement in the alleged granting of immunity to Mr. MILINGO.

Speaking during a Press Conference at State House today, the Head of State stressed that he has never met Mr. MILINGO to discuss his immunity from prosecution.

He said that State wings such as the Drug Enforcement Commission -DEC-, Anti-Corruption Commission – ACC and the Director of Public Prosecutions -DPP- among others have no powers to give anyone immunity from prosecution.

President HICHILEMA described as null and void the alleged immunity granted to Mr. MILINGO.

The President also revealed that there is a clique of thieves who are using people in public offices to commit illegalities adding that those shielding corruption will be dealt with.

He warned that NO one will be allowed to frustrate the fight against corruption that his government has embarked on.
