President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has held a meeting with International Monetary Fund -IMF- Managing Director, KRISTINA GEORGIEVA.
This was in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations -UN- General Assembly, which the President is attending.
The President has expressed gladness at the open and frank discussions with Ms GEORGIEVA, on Zambia’s IMF supported programme.
President HICHILEMA has noted that what remains now is to complete the programme and pave the way for Zambia’s economic transformation.
Meanwhile, President HICHILEMA earlier met with the World Bank President DAVID MALPASS.
This was on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, in New York.
During the meeting, Mr. MALPASS confirmed the International Development Association (IDA’s) intention to disburse 7-hundred and- 50 million United States Dollars to Zambia for projects in Health, Education, and Social assistance.
And, President HICHILEMA has also held a meeting with USAID Administrator, SAMANTHA POWERS, which he has described as productive and insightful.
He has explained that he discussed matters of cooperation for development in Zambia, particularly in areas of poverty alleviation, human capital development, SME development, job creation and investment.
President HICHILEMA also says he discussed the fight against corruption and the need for access to information as a key factor, along with strengthening Zambia’s institutional capacity to deal with the scourge.
