By Ruth Chayinda:
President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has advised the Ministry of Lands to urgently explore ways of improving service delivery to citizens.
President HICHILEMA has also urged the ministry to design service level agreements with clear timelines on how long land title takes to be issued.
He says the ministry should clean up, normalise and formalise the issuance of land title by providing user – friendly and cost efficient land titling that will be devoid of corruption.
The Head of State says for the country to unlock its development Agenda there is need to urgently deal with land management issues.
President HICHILEMA has also advised the Minister of Lands and his team to work in close collaboration with other line Ministries like Finance and Local Government on the process of the Land Titling Programme.
He said this today when he received a joint briefing from the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources Team and Medici Land Governance on the Land Titling Programme -NLTP- that is anchored on the 8th National Development Plan.
President HICHILEMA on his Facebook post monitored by ZNBC News said the objectives of NLTP is to guarantee security of tenure, promote internal security and increase the revenue base and investment in the country so that it can contribute to social economic development.
He said land is also a good investment which empowers the people and can be used as collateral.
