Hamstring injury knocks Mwepu out of Crystal Palace clash

Brighton and Hove Albion boss Graham Potter confirmed that Enock Mwepu will miss Friday’s English Premier League tie against Crystal Palace due to a hamstring injury.

The Computer had to be substituted early in the first half against West Brom last weekend after sustaining a hamstring injury.

Mwepu is not the only player who will miss the match as Defender Lewis Dunk will only start training with the squad on Sunday, the first time since suffering a knee injury against West Ham on 1 December.

“Lewis Dunk won’t be involved in the game against Palace, it’s come too soon for him. But we’re hoping he will be training with the team on Sunday. We will see if he’s available for the Chelsea game, but we need to see how he goes.”

In the reverse fixture, Neal Maupay netted in the fifth minute of added time, cleverly lobbing Vicente Guaita to secure a 1-1 draw after Wilfred Zaha had put the Eagles in the lead.

Albion play their first home game of 2022 on Friday as they take on Crystal Palace at the American Express Community Stadium, kick-off at 10:00 pm Central African Time.
