Guy Scott Cautions Opposition About “Guaranteed Electoral Victory”

Guy Scott-HHFormer Vice President Dr Guy Scott has fed a dose of realism in opposition political parties not to have sky high expectations about winning the August 11 general elections.

Scott, who is campaigning for the opposition United Party for National Development candidate Hakainde Hichilema, said although he rated the chances for the opposition as very high it was not wise to say victory was guaranteed.

He said that the opposition should focus on enhancing their chances and understand that unseating a ruling party was an insurmountable task for any opposition political party.

“I can say the chances are very high but you can say the election already won until twa wina (until we have won,” he said.

Dr Scott is currently leading the UPND campaign team in the Eastern Province with the party leader in Northern Province alongside the United Democratic Front president Miles Sampa.

He jumped the PF ship after it became apparent that his wife Charlotte was not going to be adopted as his successor on the Lusaka Central PF ticket seat.

Dr Scott has had a love hate relationship with President Edgar Lungu who he denied resources for campaigns when he was acting President during the January 2015 presidential elections.
