GUEST STORY: U17 GIRLS THUMP YASA QUEENS IN WARM UP MATCH

The Under-17 Women National Team warmed up for their 2019 inaugural Cosafa championship with a 4-1 win and 2-all draw with top tier side Yasa Queens at Barca Academy.

Coach Kangwa Kaluba’s lasses showed attacking prowess with goals Maweta Chilenga, Comfort Selemani and a brace from Florence Kasonde.

Mitchell Abueng scored a consolation goal in the 4-1 loss for Yasa Queens.

In the second match, the national team got their goals through Thelma Munkombwe and Pauline Zulu.


There was another strike from Abueng with Melissa Mataba netting the other to make it 2-2.

Kaluba’s team will compete at the inaugural Cosafa under-17 women championship in Mauritius from September 20-29.


Zambia is in Group A alongside the host nation Mauritius, guest team Uganda and Comoros.

The inaugural 2019 COSAFA Women’s Under-17 Championship will see eight teams take part in the tournament in Mauritius from September 20-29.
