Grant expecting a tough match against Malawi

Chipolopolo Boys head coach Avram Grant says he is expecting a tough game tomorrow when his side faces Malawi in the third and fourth play offs.

Zambia suffered a 6-5 defeat by Zimbabwe on post-match penalties after the match ended 2-2 in regulation time in their first game of the Four Nations Invitational tournament.

Grant says he does not believe in friendly games because when the team’s go on the pitch they all want to win.

Meanwhile China based Stophila Sunzu is set to miss the match against hosts Malawi.

“It is a game between neighbours; it will be, I think, a tough game. I don’t believe in friendlies because when you go to the pitch, you want to win anyway. We are creating a winning mentality that we showed in the last year,” he said.

“About the captain, the new captain we will announce later.”

Grant has hinted on making changes to his squad for the Flames showdown and wants the team to keep learning.

“This is the last time that we can try things that we didn’t do before—try new players and see if they are good for our team. I was very pleased with our first game; we were leading 2-nil, and we played well. We made two mistakes, and it cost us,” he said.

“It is a learning game, so we want to learn; the next game against Malawi will be the same; we want to see things that will help us in the future.”

Zambia will play Malawi tomorrow at Bingu National Stadium in a 14:00 hours kick-off while the Warriors of Zimbabwe take on the Harambe Stars of Kenya in the final at 17:00 hours
