Graft fight boosts investor confidence – WOOLLEY

By Brian Mwale

British High Commissioner to Zambia NICHOLAS WOOLLEY says action in the fight against corruption is key.

Mr. WOOLLEY says action to combat corruption must be taken and not be seen to be taken as a way of promoting investments in the country.

He says the United Kingdom has strict laws binding its companies to ensure they protect against bribery and corruption wherever in the world they operate.

Mr. WOOLLEY notes that this reflects well on the Zambian government’s stance against corruption as UK firms have invested over 1-point 4-billion pounds in Zambia over the past 12 months.

He said this in a statement to ZNBC news in line with the International Anti-Corruption Day.

Mr. WOOLLEY added that revealing and addressing corruption through the appropriate channels and independent institutions shows that the institutions are working.
