Govt. will not gloss over ECL statement- MWIIMBU

By Patricia Banda

Government says it will NOT dismiss as exaggeration the statement by former president EDGAR LUNGU that people may rise and force President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA to give up power before 2026.

Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister JACK MWIIMBU says this is because being former head of state, there could be something Mr. LUNGU knows which government is not aware of.

In a ministerial statement in the National Assembly today, Mr. MWIIMBU said government is equally concerned with similar statements made by some politicians and senior clergymen in the past.

Mr. MWIIMBU’s statement is in response to a matter of urgent public importance that was raised last week by Bweengwa Member of Parliament KASAUTU MICHELO on the security of the nation.
