Govt urged to address low participation of women in leadership positions

CHIPENZI FODEPchipenziThe Governance, Elections, Advocacy, Research Services (GEARS) Executive Director Mcdonald Chipenzi has challenged both government and women organizations to find a last solution to the low number of women participation in leadership positions.

Mr. Chipenzi tells QTV news in an interview that despite the many capacity building programmes aimed at enhancing women participation in leadership, the situation remains constant.

He has ruled out lack of finances saying they are a lot of women that are economically viable but they have opted to remain as the elect irate as opposed to assuming decision making positions.

Mr. Chipenzi adds that with an established ministry of gender in existence in Zambia governance structure, one expects more women in decision making positions as well as well many aspiring for such positions.
