Govt to monitor Mopani situation after handover-Kabuswe

Government says it will closely monitor the working conditions of contractors at Mopani Copper Mines to ensure fair wages and decent working conditions following the mine’s takeover by Abu Dhabi’s International Resources Holdings -IRH.

Speaking when he featured on Radio Mafken’s express chit – chat programme, Mines and Minerals Development Minister PAUL KABUSWE said government is committed to ensuring that the benefits of Mopani’s transition to a new investor, extend beyond Mopani employees to contractors and suppliers.

Meanwhile, Kankoyo Member of Parliament, HEARTSON MABETA, expressed optimism that Mopani’s acquisition by the new investor will yield positive economic outcomes across the country.
