Govt to grow economy, create jobs -TAMBATAMBA
By Justine Akakulubelwa
Labour Minister BRENDA TAMBATAMBA says government has prioritised the stabilisation of the economy as a way of addressing some of the challenges the labour market is facing.
Ms. TAMBATAMBA said this in Livingstone today, when she officially opened the Federation of Free Trade Unions of Zambia – FFTUZ- fifth supreme labour conference.
She said it is only after stabilising the economy that it will be possible to create more jobs and resolve the social aspects that affect the nation.
And Mrs. TAMBATAMBA has challenged labour unions to represent the members effectively, and be strategic in their recruitment drive to ensure that all the workers belong to trade unions.
Speaking at the same conference, FFTUZ President, CHINGATI MSISKA, commended the New Dawn Government for its achievements such as the removal of cadres in markets and bus stations, introduction of free education and recruitment of teachers and health workers.
And Zambia Congress of Trade Unions –ZCTU- President BLAKE MULALA urged the labour movement to support the debt restructuring process.
