GOVT PONDERS WEAVER TO SOME INVESTORS

Government is planning on awarding incentives to private investors that want to put up houses near newly constructed public schools.
Housing and Infrastructure Development Minister Ronald Chitotela says this will be the quickest way to provide decent accommodation to schools especially those that are in rural areas.
Mr. Chitotela says apart from providing land, government will also directly deduct the money for rent from the central paying system and give it to the developer.
He told ZNBC news that the agreement will see Civil Servants renting the houses with the aim of buying them later.
The Minister says this initiative has worked well in Tanzania and Rwanda.
Mr. Chitotela said government is in a hurry to provide decent accommodation to teachers in remote areas and has called on private developers to come on board.
