Government says it is not undertaking any constitutional amendments.
Chief Government Spokesperson CORNELIUS MWEETWA says Members of Parliament have organized themselves and are being led by opposition Independent Whip EMMANUEL BANDA who has moved a motion before parliament urging the executive to effect constitutional amendments.
Mr. MWEETWA says the submission by Mr. BANDA relates to MPs to resume sitting with local authorities and be part of decision making on land allocation and disbursement of Constituency Development Fund.
Mr. MWEETWA says this comes following the increased CDF which requires MPs to participate as it gives them a connection with electorates.
He says Mr. BANDA an independent MP for Petauke has written to the Clerk of the National Assembly on a motion asking the executive to amend the constitution.
Speaking in a live broadcast on ZNBC TV1 from the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa this afternoon, Mr. MWEETWA said the motion would have already been tabled by Parliament had Mr. BANDA not been suspended.
