GOVT LAUNCHES HYGIENE CAMPAIGN

Government has launched a hygiene behavior change campaign, that will encourage the public to continue with good hygiene practices.
And Minister of Water Development, Sanitation and Environmental Protection Dennis Wanchinga says efforts are being made to ensure the country does not experience another Cholera Outbreak.
Dr. Wachinga said this during the official opening of the Zambia Sanitation Summit dubbed ”collective actions towards sustainable sanitation and hygiene services for all”.
Meanwhile, Water Development, Sanitation and Environmental Protection Permanent Secretary Ed Chomba said hosting of the summit shows Government efforts in addressing challenges faced in the water sector.
Bishop Chomba said it is important that stakeholders come up with a free platform network that will offer counsel to people on hygiene issues.
African Development Bank Country Representative, Mary Monyau said the bank is willing to fund sanitation projects in the country.

And United Nations Regional Director Leila Pakkala said research shows that investment in water, sanitation and hygiene bring significant health, Economic and development benefits.
Lusaka Mayor Miles Sampa and 14 chiefs were present at the event among other senior officials.
