GOVT EFFORTS REFLECT IN KWACHA APPRECIATION

By Austin Mwale

Former Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda says the appreciation of kwacha is a clear indication of efforts being made by government to improve the economy.

Mr. Chikwanda has refuted speculations suggesting that the appreciation of the kwacha is a manipulation by the PF government to gain voter confidence.

He says the appreciation of the Kwacha is attributed to improved copper prices on the international market which is Zambia’s principal export.

Mr. Chikwanda says the PF government does not have the ability to determine copper prices on the international market.

Speaking on ZNBC’s Sunday Interview program, Mr. Chikwanda said there has also been a significant improvement in the Agriculture sector which is contributing to economic improvement.
