Govt determined to end cholera – HH

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says government is determined to contain the cholera outbreak in the country.

President HICHILEMA says he has been monitoring the cholera situation around the country, particularly in Lusaka.

He says measures will continue to be put in place to halt the further spread of the disease.

In a posting on his Facebook page, President HICHILEMA called on citizens to adhere to the health guidelines being given by competent health authorities.

He said cholera can only be defeated if everyone works together and take measures to avoid contracting the disease.

Cholera is an extremely virulent disease transmitted through the ingestion of contaminated food or water.

It can cause severe acute watery diarrhoea and the severe forms of the disease can kill within hours if left untreated.
