Govt concerned with emerging cyber crimes

JUSTICE Minister Given Lubinda says Government is concerned with the emerging cyber crimes in the Country.

Mr Lubinda says while the cyberspace is meant to improve the lives of the people, more people are using it to harm others.

Speaking at the Inter-Ministerial Conference on Cyber law, Crimes and Security in New Delhi, India, Mr Lubinda says the international conference is important especially that Zambia is in the process of developing a legal framework for cyber security and cybercrime.

He says the conference is important as Zambia emphasizes use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in the Seventh National Development Plan (SNDP).

And the President of Cyberlaws.Net and Supreme Court of India Advocate, Pavan Duggal says artificial intelligence is anticipated to match human intelligence by the year 2062, calling for a legal framework among countries ahead of schedule.

Dr. Duggal says the conference is necessary because cyber crime is a global phenomenon which will be gobbling Six Trillion US Dollars globally per year.

The conference has drawn participants and senior officials from different parts of the world.
