Government has dispelled allegations that over 400 senior officers in the Public Service have been placed in holding positions at the Public Service Management Division -PSMD.
Acting Secretary to the Cabinet SIAZONGO SIAKALENGE says the allegations are not true and are unfounded.
Mr. SIAKALENGE says the allegations should be treated with contempt as no such thing has happened.
He furthers says allegations that employees placed in the transitional positions are from certain regions of the country are false.
Mr. SIAKALENGE says the establishment of the Public Service Management Division has a total number of 78 transitory positions which are commonly referred to as holding positions.
He says the positions are for purposes of maintaining employees on the payroll as the officers are waiting redeployment during the process of re-alignment of government structures or on return from tours of duty from missions abroad.
Mr. SIAKALENGE has stressed that President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA during his inauguration made a commitment to reinstate former public service employees who were separated on tribal, political and or unfair grounds.
He says some of the reinstated employees were attached to various ministries, provinces and other government agencies where they are performing various duties and are eligible to receive emoluments through available organizational arrangements.
This is according to a statement issued to ZNBC NEWS by Mr. SIAKALENGE this evening.
