Govt-Church partnership solid- Matamb

ZANIS-Copperbelt Province Minister, ELISHA MATAMBO says government is pleased with the role the Catholic Church has been playing in uplifting the lives of the ordinary people.

ZANIS reports that Mr. MATAMBO says the Catholic Church has been able to reach many citizens especially those in rural areas through the provision of education, healthcare and water.

He says Government alone cannot provide all the social amenities needed by the general citizenry and that the olive branch which the Catholic Church has extended is worth uploading.

Speaking last evening when he officiated at Ndola’s Divine Mercy Parish fundraising golf tournament for completion of a Church hall, Mr. MATAMBO said government will always work with the church to uplift people’s livelihoods.

He said through the up scaled Constituency Development Funds -CDF, government seeks to address many social-economic challenges that many people are facing.

Mr. MATAMBO also urged members of parliament to work closely with ward development committees and the church to ensure people’s needs are addressed.

And Divine Mercy Parish Priest, MARTIN FARRELL said the hall will benefit parishioners and the entire community.

Fr. FARRELL also called for the development of golf among girls and women across the country.

The church is targeting to raise K50,000 to complete construction of the church hall.
