GOVT ASSURES MANUFACTURERS OF HELP

Government has assured local manufacturers of support to enable them penetrate international markets.

Vice President MUTALE NALUMANGO says government is encouraged by Zambians who are already breaking into international markets.

Mrs. NALUMANGO was speaking during a proudly Zambian Sustainable Walk organized by the Zambia Association of Manufacturers -ZAM.

She said the event is aligned with government’s efforts towards environmental sustainability.

And Green Economy and Environment Minister COLLINS NZOVU said sustainable manufacturing promotes a green economy.

Mr. NZOVU said it is important for the private sector to partner with government to formulate sustainable solutions for the environment and the economy.

Meanwhile ZAM President ASHU SAGAR said there has been stability in the currency and its continued trend will promote an increase in manufacturing.

Mr. SAGAR also recommended to government to consider placing a waiver on manufacturing machinery through reduced taxes on their imports in order to grow the local industry.
