Govt Advised To Find Other Sources Of Power Generation As Zambia Is Not Guaranteed Of Any More Power From ESKOM

A Governance and Financial Management Consultant, Moses Silanda has advised government to find other sources of power generation as Zambia is not guaranteed of any more power from ESKOM of South Africa.

Following an announcement by ESKOM that the importation of power to Zambia will be dependent on whether or not South Africa’s utility has excess production, Mr Silanda said government overlooked the importance of cost benefit analysis before striking a deal with ESKOM at a huge amount which has left the country now depending on ESKOM’s power production capacity.

In an interview, Mr Silanda notes that with the current situation, Zambia needs to re-look its decision and invest in alternative power resources to avoid a total blackout.
