Govt acts to curb livestock diseases

(NAIS) Government says it will this year establish bio-security veterinary check points across the country to curb the spread of livestock diseases.

Fisheries and Livestock Permanent Secretary ANNA SONGOLO says the illegal movement of animals and animal products remains one of the major factors contributing to the spread of diseases.

Dr. SONGOLO says her Ministry is working on modalities to scale up veterinary inland and border check points to prevent and control the spread of livestock diseases in the country.

She said this when she officiated at a capacity building workshop for inland and border veterinary check point inspectors in Kafue district.
