Government has disclosed that it is working out a plan that will enable the country to pay the $750 million first Eurobond in 2022 without difficulties.
The first Eurobond loan falls in 2022 and minister of finance Bwalya Ng’andu has assured without disclosing what a plan in place is but said it will be disclosed in due course.
Speaking during a briefing on the economic update for the first quarter of 2020, Dr Ng’andu assured that government is also taking measures that will guarantee debt sustainability, dismantle local arrears and reduce the fiscal deficit to 5.5% in 2020 compared to 8.2% in 2019.
Meanwhile the finance minister says he is not sure when the international monetary fund will give Zambia the $1.3 billion bailout package.
