Government Purchases 10 Cargo Of Feedstock For Indeni At A Cost Of Over US$490 Million

By Tinkerbel Mwila

Government has purchased 10 cargo of feedstock for Indeni Petroleum Oil Refinery amounting to over US$490 million.

The Indeni petroleum refinery has not had crude oil for about five months which has partly been triggered by the coronavirus pandemic which interrupted feedstock imports.

Speaking in an interview, Minister of Energy Mathew Nkhuwa said the feedstock will go in excess of 15 months with the first cargo docking on the 19th of October 2020.

He explained that the government had put in provisions to ensure that the country did not experience fuel shortages as it was negotiating with suppliers of crude oil.
