Government pledge continued support to people with disbilies

…As it hand over a borehole to people living with different disabilities in the Chifwema
Lusaka (15-01-22) – The government has received and handed over the borehole that was constructed for the people living with different disabilities in the Chifwema Area of Kafue district.
The borehole was donated to the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services by the Muslim Social and Welfare Trust for and on behalf of the Muslim Community of Lusaka that wants to fulfill their obligations to satisfy the right to clean accorded by the United Nations.
Community Development and Social Services Minister Doreen Mwamba described the donation as remarkable given at the right time when the people need it.
She said the government is committed to helping the people in their time of need and at acceptable standards.
Mwamba said it is for this reason that her ministry has accepted the donation from the Muslim Social and Welfare Trust on behalf of the Muslim Community of Lusaka to the people with disabilities.
She said this commitment to supporting the people with disabilities would transform their lives and the government is resolved to work with them.
She said the community knows the need and the task is in the hand of the community according to the instruction given to it by the community.
Mwamba explained that the focus on decentralization is to know what the people need and then meet them at the time of the need via Constituency Development Fund(CDF)
She encouraged the communities to get involved in the activities and benefit from the CDF.
The Minister added that the composition of the CDF committee should involve all the people including persons with disabilities.
She thanked the Muslim social and welfare trust on behalf of the Muslim Community of Lusaka for the development and assured the people that the government will find ways of ensuring the people live better.
She said the government is committed to helping the people 24 hours and when it comes to helping the people there is no holiday for her.
Muslim social and welfare trust on behalf of the Muslim Community of Lusaka chairperson Idris Gangat said the life of people is short and urged the people use it to the advantage of the fewer privileges in society.
He said the Muslim donated the borehole and food hampers worth K45, 000
He said every good Muslim has to give back to the community wherever they are in the world.
He thanked the government for allowing them to give back to the community.
He promised that his Association will donate another borehole in the area after the rain season.
Zambia National Association of farmers with visionary disability vice Chairperson Ackim Bangwe Mwansa said for a long time the people in the area have suffered the pain of not having water.
He said though the people are happy with the donation, he would have loved to see more boreholes being sunk in the area to meet the demand of the growing community.
He said he wants the community empowered with resources to make it an example to the rest of the country.
Area councilor Chileshe is of the view that the gift will greatly benefit them and thanked the traditional leader that allowed the community to settle in the area.
He said initially the area was a Bush filled with snakes and with the government, the area has continued to develop.
While thanking for the donation of a borehole Wilfred Zacharia Chibwe said there is a need to have more boreholes sank in the area to cater for the growing communities.
Meanwhile, speaking in an exclusive interview, Ms. Mwamba pledged to fence the area to protect their crops and land encroachments.
She said she is just waiting for the donor to come into the country.
The Zambia National  Association of farmers with visionary disability president  Chalwe Kapesha wants the government to provide water to the people to enable them to farm in dry seasons.
He said the people do not have any means to source water to the rivers and if no help is given to them, they will suffer major consequences.
He said giving the people with disabilities water will make them remain grateful for the rest of their lives.
He further requested the government to protect the farmers from the animals.
He said it is not easy for the blind and other people with special needs to chase the animals.
He said the government will do a great job to fence the land for this will help them save the life
He also thanked the government for giving them fertilizer and see to keep them going in their farming
He said in some farmers were receiving help from the government via social cash transfer.
He said with assistance from the government are farming
