Government Advised To Quickly Find An Investor To Run KCM

By Enoch Lusoke

Opposition Green Party Leader Peter Sinkamba has advised government to quickly find an investor and hand over the running of Konkola Copper Mines to experts.

In an interview with Phoenix News, Mr Sinkamba explains that the continued running of the mine by a liquidator who is not a mining expert is a clear abrogation of the law, and is putting the future of the mine and the workers at risk.

Mr Sinkamba points out that the appointed liquidator, Milingo Lungu does not qualify and is not competent to run the mining firm under the current mining act.

He says it is regrettable that government has continued to abrogate the law with impunity, and paying a deaf ear to advice from experts on the handling of the KCM impasse, a situation he says will create more challenges.
