GIZ to Improve Water,Sanitation in Luapula

Germany Ambassador to Zambia Achim Burkart  says the Germany Society for International Corporation -GIZ- will open an office in Mansa to help the province in different activities. Speaking when he paid a courtesy call on Acting Luapula province Permanent Secretary Royd Chakaba , Mr. Burkart  said GIZ wants to help improve the water and sanitation sector in Luapula.Mr. Burkart emphasised the need to provide quality water at Mantapala to refugees and the host communities.And Mr. Chakaba said government will not allow the people of Luapula to drink water which is not safe.Mr. Chakaba revealed that access to urban water supply in the province currently stands at 45.1 percent.The German Ambassador with the United Nations delegation is in the province for a two day visit to appreciate the situation on water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH).GIZ already operations in Southern and Eastern Provinces.
