Zambia under-17 head coach George Chilufya has nothing but praise for the junior Chipolopolo after they thrashed Malawi 6-2 to book a place in the final of the 2020 COSAFA U-17 Championship

Chilufya who recently lost his father wishes he was here to see the achievement that his son has managed with the Young Copper Bullets.

“I wish my dad was here to celebrate this with me I lost him two months ago (M.H.S.R.I.P) he wanted the best from me from the time I was a small boy started playing football how I wish he was around. And football-wise Its just encouraging the boys were marvelous. They have been marvelous ever since we came here, the discipline part excellent, the application you know these are boys that are just developing we expect mistakes from them for them to learn but today fantastic we have achieved one target which is the qualification to the AFCON, ” He said.

“We have another target left to achieve which is defending the title as we are the defending champions,” he added

The Power Dynamos assistant coach believes the mind is very key in football as the body applies what the mind is fed. Chilufya is especially that his team is paying a lot of attention to detail.

”You know what you feed the mind the body reacts we said we concentrate on our game and that is what they did you saw what happened in the first half everyone was on fire we converted everything that came our way and I think that is when we wrapped it up,” he said.

”Football is about details and those set pieces, free kicks, penalties both for and against us, those are the details if you take those serious that is the result, it was nice more especially the second goal was beautiful because the boys have been practicing and it’s helping the team,” he added.

Chilufya has also hinted at rotating his players to keep the starters fresh for the final game.

“We shall take both games seriously because we have to see other players as well and we have to keep those that have played the past three games fresh for the final so we will make a decision but we intend to refresh those that have played many minutes,” he said.

“We have 20players, we came with 20players and everyone is equal to the task so we shall decide who plays on Thursday and we shall definitely come up with our best team on Sunday for the final,” he added.

Joseph ‘Sabobo’ Banda scored a hat-trick while Rickson Ng’ambi, Charles Majapa Mumba, and Teddy Khumalo chipped in with a goal each as Zambia cruised to a 6-2 win to seal a place in the final and consequently qualify for the Morocco 2021 U-17 AFCON.
