GBM Released On K10, 000 Bail

GBMUnited Party for National Development (UPND) vice president Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba has finally been set free after spending the weekend in police custody.

Mwamba popularly known as GBM was on Saturday arrested at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe Airport where he was about to board a plane to Lusaka.

GBM allegedly assaulted a trader at Chisokone Market and also is accused of malicious damage to property with another charge of conduct likely to cause breach of peace added to the charge sheet.

He has pleaded not guilty to the three charges in the Kitwe Magistrate Court with a K10, 000 cash bail and two working sureties.

The case has been adjourned to June 24 for commencement of trial.

GBM’s confrontational political style has routinely brought him in collision with the law enforcement agencies with a litany of court cases hovering over his head.

A number of his sympathisers and UPND officials gathered outside the court to render him solidarity.
