The Food Reserve Agency -FRA- has urged local leadership in drought and flood prone areas to apply for purchase of maize under the Community Sales Programme.

FRA Executive Director CHOLA KAFWABULULA says this is aimed at ensuring that the vulnerable communities address their food insecurity.

Dr.  KAFWABULULA says the Community Sales is an alternative and direct Programme that provides cheaper and affordable maize for milling in order to ensure household food security in rural vulnerable communities.

He says the agency has continued to sell maize through the Community Sales Programme where the product is sold to selected rural vulnerable and needy communities in drought and flood prone areas and food deficit places.

Dr. KAFWABULULA has told ZNBC News in a statement that each household under this programme is entitled to buy ONLY one fifty kilogramme bag of maize per month and the Agency has been releasing maize to affected districts.
