FRA Constructing 430, 000 Metric Tonnes Storage Capacity

The Food Reserve Agency (FRA) has boasted that cases of crop wastage in the country have drastically reduced due to the additional storage facilities that have been put up across the country.

FRA Chief Executive Officer Chola Kafwabulula says the industry allows crop wastage of about 4 to 5 percent per season but that the FRA has beaten the standards of the industry as it is recording approximately 0.5 percent.

Mr. Kafwabulula has told Journalists in Lusaka that the agency has signed a contract with Advanced Africa Solutions to put up 98 storage facilities across the country in all the districts saying this will no doubt result in safeguarding the crops.

He says this will result in additional 430, 000 metric tonnes storage capacity.

He says currently, the agency has a total storage capacity of 800, 065 metric tonnes.

Mr. Kafwabulula says this is the reason why the nation has not heard of reports of crop wastage in the recent past because the agency has been putting up additional storage facilities.
