FOUR ARRESTED FOR UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF GOVT MEDICINES

Four people of Kasenengwa District in Eastern Province have been arrested for being in possession of government medicines suspected to have been unlawfully obtained.

Ministry of Health Employee at Kasenengwa Zonal Health Centre, Edwin Nkata 56 has been jointly charged with Samson Zulu  39, Allan Zulu 45, and Nathan Tembo  50 all of Kasenengwa District.

Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority -ZAMRA- Senior Public Relations Officer Christabel Illiamupu has confirmed in a statement to ZNBC News today.

She says Nkhata has been charged for theft by public servant and jointly charged with Samson Zulu, Allan Zulu and Nathan Tembo for being in possession of government medicines suspected to have been unlawfully obtained.

Ms Illiamupu says the four where arrested after a joint investigation undertaken by the Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority -ZAMRA- in collaboration with officers from the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC ) and Department of National Parks and Wildlife.

The four have since been released on police bond and will appear in court soon.
