FORM COOPERATIVES,GAMERS TOLD

The Zambia Gaming Association -ZGA- has advised its members to form cooperatives and access empowerment funds under the youth component of Constituency Development Funds -CDF-.

ZGA Chairperson GIFT SIMUSAMBA says President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has been categorical by encouraging youths to tap into the 25.7-million Kwacha CDF.

He has further encouraged ZGA members involved in slot businesses popularly known as Bonanza in the townships to register their businesses and annually renew their licenses with the Ministry of Finance as part of helping government in job creation and contributing to the treasury.

Addressing a stakeholders meeting with ZGA members on concerns of lack of adherence to laid down laws, Mr. SIMUSAMBA urged them to follow the laid down regulations so that their businesses are not disrupted.

And ZGA Director Operations NOAH MALUNGILA reminded members of the set guidelines such as not allowing under-age children on their premises, not putting machines in shops and ensuring that they comply with council regulations.

But LLOYD SIAME who has employed nine people for his Bonanza operations in Lusaka and Mkushi appealed to ZGA to engage the Ministry of Finance on possibilities of coming up with youth friendly licensing fees.

Mr. SIAME says the current 150,000 Kwacha fee at the beginning and 75,000 Kwacha renewal thereafter is way beyond the reach of most youths.
