FORESTRY DEGRADATION CONCERNS JICA

The Japanese World Cooperation Company -JICA – says there is have to address the forestry degradation that Zambia has confronted in the remainder two many years.
JICA Zambia Resident Book, Junichi Hanai says the present forest coverage ratio of Zambia is much less than 60 percent.
Mr. Hanai says here is why there is need for the country to set the suitable technique to protect watch over forestry resources in partnership with other countries in the SADC position.
He says there is need for countries in the SADC position to be taught lessons and experiences from every other on the suitable technique to promote the use of forest resources for meals safety and beef up participatory forest administration.
He said this in an interview with ZNBC News at the continuing third assembly of the Expert Working Crew on Forest Data System below the auspices of SADC in Lusaka recently.
And SADC Senior Programme Officer – Pure Resources and Wildlife, Deborah Kahatano said SADC has developed the Forestry Procedure 2010 to 2020 to manual and facilitate the implementation of the Protocol on Forestry.
Ms. Kahatano has explained that the strategy provides a framework for a concerted motion by SADC member states in the administration, conservation and sustainable use of their forests, paying particular attention to concerns that transcend nationwide boundaries.
