Forensic audit to help establish social cash transfer scandal culprits

Finance Minister Margret Mwanakatwe says the forensic audit into the fraudulent activities in the social cash transfer will help establish those involved.

Mrs Mwanakatwe has told Parliament that the audit is progressing in the ministries of general education and community development social welfare.

She says once the forensic audit is completed, it is then that it shall be decided what measures should be put in place before the social cash transfer can resume.

Mrs Mwanakatwe says government is determined to see to it that a framework is put in place that can give donors the comfort that the funds reached intended beneficiaries.

And the minister says government will ensure it pays in arrears beneficiaries of the social cash transfer before the end of December 2018.

Mrs Mwanakatwe has also revealed the UK Government’s contribution to the social cash transfer stands at US$9 million over 2-years, with the three other donor countries namely Sweden,Finland and Ireland contributing a combined total of US$11 million over 2-years.

She adds that government’s contribution is Fifty five million.
