FOREIGN ELEMENTS FUNDING SOME OPPOSITION LEADERS- KAMPYONGO

By Hannock Kasama

Home Affairs Minister Stephen Kampyongo says government is aware that some opposition leaders are being funded by some foreign elements to cause instability in the nation.

Mr. Kampyongo says such acts must not be tolerated.

He has cautioned some opposition leaders against working with foreign individuals to destabilize the peaceful environment the country has always enjoyed.

Mr. Kampyongo said this in Lusaka today during a media briefing.

And Mr. Kampyongo has refuted claims that the incarceration of National Democratic Congress-NDC leader Chishimba Kambwili is politically motivated.

He said the litigation in the matter was filed by Economic Equity Party-EPP President Chilufya Tayali.

Meanwhile Mr. Kampyongo has advised politicians not to use others as facades when registering political parties.

He said all Zambians whether former Patriotic Front-PF-officials or not, must feel free to register political parties in their own names as government does interfere with the process.

Mr. Kampyongo remarks come in the wake of comments by the newly formed Movement for Democratic Party-MDC’s official that the registration of the party was delayed due to certain names associated with it.
