FOOD SAFETY BILL ON CARDS

The Ministry of Health says it is formulating a Food Safety Bill which will among other things tighten surveillance on food related diseases such as Cholera.
Ministry Permanent Secretary, Kennedy Malama says the Bill will be taken to Parliament next year for possible adoption.

Dr. Malama says the Bill will also enable the Ministry to effectively collaborate with Food Safety stakeholders in the fight against food contamination and other related issues.
And Dr. Malamasays companies dealing in food products should put in place food safety measures which will ensure that the entire food production chain is sanitized.
The Permanent Secretary said this at the Ministry of Health when he met local Importers and Exporters of food.
The meeting was held to discuss measures to prevent the outbreak of food related diseases.
