Florence Mukokomena – Choma Warriors reliable defensive queenpin

Choma Warriors Academy captain Florence Mukokomena is one of the club’s most disciplined players and longest serving.

Mukokomena is one of the exciting players to watch playing at the heart of defence for  team Chopicho.

She is well known for her tight marking in terms of style of play coupled with calmness, man-marking and great aerial ability because of her height.

Mukokomena has established herself as one of the reliable and dependable players for Team Chopicho having been with the team for over 8 years.

Coming from a footballing family, Florence who is following the footsteps of her elder sister Zamiwe Mukokomema who is on the books of Ndola based side Indeni Roses, was a marvel to watch in the 2023/24 FAZ/ZPL Women’s National Division One Southern Zone League Season.

Mukokomena was among the players who featured in almost all games last season for Warriors forming a very strong and solid defensive partnership with Musports Academy product Abigail Munkombwe at the heart of defence by providing enough cover to former Zambia U17 Women’s National Team goalkeeper Miriam Sikaduli.

Her performance eventually earned her a place in the Southern Provincial Under-17 squad that played in the Inter-Provincial Trials for the Zambia U17 Women’s National Team.

Mukokomena was also part of the Copper Princesses squad that was called up for trials in 2019 alongside two of her teammates Judith Nalishebo and Astridah Sikaala.

One of Mukokomena’s historical and memorable moment was when she put up a remarkable player of the match performance scoring 7 goals in a single game for Choma Warriors who thrashed Choma Cabinet Stars 16-nil on 27th March, 2021 with the other goals coming from Florence Munsaka and Judith Banda who registered hat tricks each while Rixina Lutaka, Brenda and Judith Mudenda scored a goal each in this 2020/21 FAZ Women’s League Choma District match.

Warriors who are expected to make their debut in the FAZ Women’s Super Division this coming season will have a real test of Elite football when they face an uphill battle against giants Green Buffaloes Women Football Club this weekend in a Blockbuster first of its kind 2024 Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndlovu Carling Black Label Charity Shield final slated for 10th August, 2024 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola with kickoff time set for 12h00.

Warriors silenced fellow Super Division debutants Nchanga Rangers Queens 3-1 in the National Division One Playoffs Final between Southern and Northern Zone champions encounter played in Lusaka while Buffaloes are the reigning Champions of the Women’s Super Division winning it for a record 4th time (in a row).
