FIVE THOUSAND HEALTH PERSONNEL TO BE RECRUITED

President Edgar Lungu has directed for the immediate recruitment of Five thousand front line health personnel to help manage the Covid -19 pandemic in the country.Health Minister, Chitalu Chilufya disclosed during the Covid-19 update that the Ministry is actively pursuing the directive.He explained that 50 health personnel are being closely monitored by working in fortnightly shifts, after which they are quarantined before going back to see their families as part of ensuring that human to human contacts are reduced.Dr Chilufya said once recruited the health personnel will ensure surveillance and contact tracing among other operations.And, Dr Chilufya said Zambia has recorded six new cases of Covid- 19 , which brings the number to 28.Meanwhile, Chief Government Spokesperson Dora Siliya said Zambians must begin to think beyond the Coronavirus as they think of rebuilding their businesses after the pandemic.She emphasized on people ensuring that communities are kept clean to stop the spread of the virus.Ms. Siliya also thanked the media for their continued role of educating the masses and giving timely updates being part of front-line staff.
