FIRE BURNS HOUSES IN KASAMA

(ZANIS) Two houses have been gutted by fire in separate incidents in Kasama District of Northern Province.

One of the houses located in Jazz Compound was completely gutted while the fire brigade managed to extinguish the fire at another house in Central Town.

The Fire Brigade has attributed the cause of the fire which happened within the space of less than 24 hours to suspected electrical faulty.

And the Kasama Fire Brigade has advised the public to avoid leaving their mobile phones charging during the night while they are sleeping.

Kasama Fire Brigade Chief Fire Officer, Albert Mwamba says this is to avoid over charging of phones which may lead to explosion of the battery.

Mr. Mwamba said this in an interview with ZANIS in Kasama.
He also advised the public to be making sure they disconnect most electrical appliances when going to bed.

He noted that Kasama has in the recent past experienced house fires stating that all of them have been as a result of electrical faults.

And Evaristo Chileshe the owner of the house in Central Town thanked the fire brigade and the community for helping to put off the inferno and rescuing some property.

Mr. Chileshe, who was at the farm with the wife when the incident happened, said the family could have lost all the property if it was not for the swift response of the neighbors and the fire department.

And Ignatius Kanyanta, a Kasama resident, praised the Fire Brigade for the quick response.
