The Cosafa board on Thursday expelled Zambia from the tournament after a compliant of age cheating raised by Kenya.
Oswald Mutapas side had been flying high with comprehensive results in the group stage over Kenya, Malawi and Mauritius who they beat 4-0 and 3-0 in that order.
FAZ general secretary Ponga Liwewe said the association had also instituted investigations on the matter.
Prior to heading for the tournament the players underwent an MRI scan at the privately owned Fairview Hospital.
The hospital has also reportedly instituted its own investigations.
Zambia was disqualified after two players failed the MRI scan test.
