FAZ refer Kalusha’s letter to Ethics Committee

The Football Association of Zambia has referred former FAZ President Kalusha Bwalya’s letter requesting for endorsement for the CAF Executive Committee (South Zone) to the Ethics Committee.

In a letter dated 17th May addressed to the 1988 African footballer of the year by FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala and obtained by the ZamFoot Crew, The Association have handed over the matter to the Cephas Katongo chaired Ethics Committee.

“We however, Wish to inform you that your letter of expression of interest and endorsement to contest the vacant position of CAF Executive Committee member from the Football Association of Zambia has been refereed to the FAZ Ethics Committee for clearance . The Ethics Committee will get in touch with yourself in due course.”

Kalusha who has been a CAF Executive Committee member since 2011 is seeking a third term but will need a recommendation letter from FAZ however the current FAZ President Andrew Kamanga has also made known his ambitions to stand for the same position.

FAZ will however need to back one candidate as they are bound by Article 18 (5) to nominate only one candidate. The position is held by Kalusha but comes to an end this year, with elections due this July.

The CAF Executive Committee Member of the South Zone (Cosafa Region) represents 14 member associations namely Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
