The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) in conjunction with Barclays Bank Zambia Plc has changed the format of the Absa Cup (formerly known as the Barclays Cup) for the 2019 transitional league.

In a communiqué addressed to Super League clubs accessed by the Zamfoot Crew on Wednesday evening, the FAZ announced that the competition will kick off at the semi-final stage, with only four Super League teams taking part.

The qualified teams will be those finishing in the top two positions of each of the two streams of the 2019 MTN FAZ Super League transitional league season.

The semi-finals will be played on June 15, with the final taking place a week later at yet to be announced venues.

According to the FAZ, eight teams – six from the Super League and two from the National Division One League – will qualify for the Absa Cup during the 2019/20 regular season.
