Exercise caution on children – VEEP

(ZANIS) Vice President MUTALE NALUMANGO says the justice system should exercise caution when dealing with issues involving children who go into conflict with the law.

Mrs. NALUMANGO says this is to ensure that any rehabilitative measures taken are aimed at addressing the problem and should be done in the best interest of the child.

The Vice President said this when she made a ministerial statement on the sentencing of children who have come in conflict with the law, on behalf of Justice Minister MULAMBO HAIMBE.

The Vice President however noted that there have been instances where a child who commits an atrocious offense leaves the justice system with little alternatives for reformation.
