ETHANOL FIRM TO EMPOWER YOUTHS

By Gift Inambao:PF National Youth Chairperson Kelvin Sampa has commended an ethanol producing company Surya Biofuels limited for showing interest to partner with government and distribute free liquid organic fertilizer to cooperative youths’ group in Katuba.Mr. Sampa who is also PF member of the central committee and Kasama Central Member of Parliament said this when he toured the soon to be commissioned 5 million US dollar investment in Chibombo district of Central province.He said the investment is timely and in line with government policies of youth empowerment and enhancing agriculture.And Surya biofuels limited Chairperson Kalpesh Patel said once commissioned the plant is expected to produce between 12 to 18-thousand liters of ethanol and 1-hundred and 20-thousand liters of organic fertilizer as one of its bye products.Mr. Patel added that the cooperative youth groups and some small-scale farmers in Katuba will benefit from the free liquid organic fertilizer as a way of encouraging them to grow maize and cassava needed to produce ethanol.He said the investment is expected to increase from 5 million US dollars to 22 million dollars by 2021.
