The Energy Regulation Board -ERB- has assured that the country of sufficient fuel stocks.

ERB Public Relations Manager, NAMUKOLO KASUMPA says the country has over 19m litres of diesel and over 19m litres of petrol in various depots and retail sites countrywide.

This is based on the latest daily fuel statistics of April 4, 2024.

Mrs. KASUMPA says this is enough to cover the national requirements of petroleum products.

She however regretted the intermittent supply of diesel currently being experienced at some filling stations in some parts of the country.

She says the reported localised shortage of fuel maybe as a result of logistical challenges by some Oil Marketing Companies to supply retail sites that may not have the products.

Mrs. KASUMPA says ERB will continue to engage with Oil Marketing Companies and carry out random surveillance inspections of filling stations in the country to ensure that there is no hoarding of fuel.

She further says ERB will also maintain regular communication with fuel suppliers to address any potential challenges promptly.

This is contained in a statement made available to ZNBC News in Lusaka today by Mrs. KASUMPA in Lusaka today.
