The Second highest goalscorer in the just ended MTN Super League Enock Sakala Jnr has been left out of the final squad for the 2024 COSAFA much to the annoyance of the fans.
However the ZamFoot Crew understands that the ZESCO United forward was not dropped but excused.
According to a ZamFoot Crew source the reason is his pending move to the Egyptian Premier League.
Sakala is all set to sign for Egyptian top-flight club Future FC following his heroics for ZESCO United which saw him score 12 goals and help them to qualify for the CAF confederation Cup.
The former Zambia U17 forward is expected to sign a three-year deal with Future until 2027.
COSAFA team Head Coach Chisi Mbewe yesterday named his 23-man squad for the 2024 COSAFA Cup set for Gqeberha from June 26-July 7.
Mbewe will lead the Chipolopolo to battle in South Africa after the Under-20 coach was named for the regional assignment.
Chipolopolo will open their Group B campaign with a match against guests Kenya on 27 June at the Nelson Mandela Bay stadium before entertaining arch-rivals Zimbabwe in a Group B tussle at Wolfson stadium on 30 June.
Their final group involvement will be against Comoros on 2 July.
